She's a girl! Her name in Sadie and here's our story -
On Saturday morning, I walked out of the gym with the girls (Tracy wasn't with us) to be welcomed by the humane society mobile unit. That very morning, Tracy had made the comment that he thought we were ready to talk about a family pet. With that in mind, I allowed myself to be talked into stopping. We met the dogs and then went into the trailer where the cats were. Ellie is allergic to cats but of course she wanted to make sure (thank you, Benadryl, for your fast acting ingredients!) Five minutes and one puffy eye later we needed to leave. As we were leaving, we met this adorable puppy who didn't jump up when we talked to her, was gentle and licked the girls to her hearts content. I reassured the girls that we were NOT ready to get a dog but that maybe daddy would take them to pet dogs at the humane society. The girls wore Tracy down that very afternoon and we went as a family into the Humane Society so they could pet the cats and dogs.
On the way there, I told the girls - we were going to look and not to get their hopes up. (I wasn't coming home with a dog, that was for sure!) Tracy had the final say and I was confident that he wouldn't be swayed by pleading eyes and a cute face. I also mentioned the puppy we saw, but I was sure she would have been adopted this morning. As we walked through the dogs, I was relieved that she wasn't there to sway me, but sure enough, she was meant to be a part of our family - the mobile unit came back and she was being led back into her kennel as we were picking out a dog to visit.
She's very comfortable here. We've only lost a few polly pocket dolls, some magnets too low on the frig and a couple of non-important stuffed animals. I freaked out only once when she jumped into my flower bed to pee, but at least it was outside! She actually likes her kennel and is pretty obedient. The girls have found contentment in having a pet, although I don't think they will be learning quite as much responsibility as Tracy would have liked. They feed her treats, run the brush across her fur once or twice and fight over who's walking her around the house with her leash on while Tracy's the one on the early morning and late night walks. All in all, not too bad of an impulse purchase on our part.

Having Max has been a huge blessing for us, the girls just ADORE him. Annie has never been without him. It's pretty cool. I also feel SO much safer when Geoff's gone at night. Max is as gentle as a butterfly for the most part, but he's got a BIG bark:)
oh, so congrats on Sadie! I'm sure she'll be a great addition to your family.:)
She is cute! We have little Amos, our Maltese. I need to post a picture of him sometime on my blog. He's not a good guard dog since he is only 12lbs. but he is a fun little guy to balance out the overload of estrogen in my house (even though he's fixed, but he doesn't know it hehehe).
Congratulations! She is adoreable. It obviously was meant to be. When we got our dog Chipper the kids and I were visiting my parents and went to their county fair. Steve and I had discussed getting a new dog and what we would like. Then a lady carrying a puppy walked through the park with her husband and a kennel of five more pups. I went alone to check them out (did I mention I was 6 months pregnant?)and Chipper tumbled out and began sitting on my feet licking my legs. I was in love!
Congratulations!
what a pretty dog with such a smart face! how big will she get? whats her bread(s)?
What a little cutie. She sounds like she'll be a wonderful addition to the family!
(Is Tracy sad she's not a boy to keep him company?)
She is so sweet looking! Good luck, it is like having a hairy new child in the house. I am sure the girls must be so happy.
Congratulations! Have fun with her! I couldn't imagine our family without our sweet "Sunshine"!
Hi Christy. How are you?
